The Christmas Stocking 
Hey just a quick note to say i recently was able to purchase another iPod after not having one for many months and i discovered your wonderful podcast. I know listening to Christmas podcasts in April is a little weird, but you should see the other Chirstmas stuff in my iPod. The only drawback is if i listen to all your archives now i won’t have any left for the holidays. Unless you are doing them this year, which i hope you are! Anywho, sorry for rambling and keep up the great work!

I plan to put out another summer episode and have a few ideas for next season I hope to start working on this summer also (we’ll see!). They’ll definitely be out, though.

Aaron, I’m getting to work on thinking about starting soon! I’m bumping up last year’s Summer Music Explosion so new folks looking for summertime Christmas fun will find it, and I’m on the lookout for some “summery” sounding Christmas music to go with the stuff to cool us off. I found such good stuff last year, it’s a high bar, but I’m gonna try!

Is there a way I can get your permission to put these files on disk for our social studies teachers? Our filtering software wreaks havoc with downloads and iTunes on the PC’s Can We link directly to your files so they can listen to them live?

I tried it tonight and it took a long time to load up, but it seemed to work. If neither of these works for you, let me know and I’ll see if I can figure something else out.

I actually come from commercial radio and miss doing it, but podcasts do have a couple of advantages: They can cover subjects that won’t be covered on commercial radio in the same depth, using programming structure that can be vastly different. I couldn’t do the Christmas Stocking as it’s structured now on radio, although I am open to re-purposing the content, radio executives! Hint, hint.

I discovered your wonderful podcast only recently and really am enjoying being exposed to different music and information. I can never get enough of Christmas! BTW, did you ever hear of a song called the Zither Carol? James Galway has a great version. I love rare carols and hymns. Oh, and I am a big fan of Ace Collins’ books about Stories Behind The Carols of Christmas and the like. I particularly enjoyed the stories behind the original Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer book and then the song. Both are very inspiring.

Thanks, Lee. The exact title of two of Ace Collins’ books are: Stories Behind the Best Loved Songs of Christmas, and More Stories Behind the Best Loved Songs of Christmas (oddly enough). I particularly enjoyed the Rudolph stories because the original poem was the response of a father to the loss of his wife and an attempt to comfort his daughter. After that, music was put to the poem, and Gene Autry didn’t want to sing “that silly song” until he played it for his wife, and she insisted he MUST record it. In both cases, it became an amazing hit as a complete surprise. I always enjoy it when that happens. Anyway, you make a great podcast. Thanks for listening.

Hi Lee! A while ago I posted here how my family has a ‘Christmas in July’ turkey dinner with all the fixings and set up outside next to our pool. We’re having our celebration in two days and it’s extra special this year because some family from far away are visiting us.

I wish I could keep all of the older episodes on iTunes, but the feed provider I use (it gets the episodes on iTunes and the other podcast apps) only has room for so much information. I have extensive show notes that I want to keep in the feed, so only around 40-45 episodes can be on the feed. Someday I may change the feed provider (I may have to if they stop the service), and I’ll be able to have all the episodes on, depending on who I go with. But there are downsides to that, too, so I’m sticking with what I have for now.
