Hey just a quick note to say i recently was able to purchase another iPod after not having one for many months and i discovered your wonderful podcast. I know listening to Christmas podcasts in April is a little weird, but you should see the other Chirstmas stuff in my iPod. The only drawback is if i listen to all your archives now i won’t have any left for the holidays. Unless you are doing them this year, which i hope you are! Anywho, sorry for rambling and keep up the great work!

  2. Lee

Hi, James! Thanks for your note; I’m glad you’re here. I leave the podcast up all year just for people like you. BTW, I listen to the “snow” Christmas songs all winter.

I plan to put out another summer episode and have a few ideas for next season I hope to start working on this summer also (we’ll see!). They’ll definitely be out, though.

Thanks for listening and keep in touch!

Hey half way to Christmas is coming up in July…. Any chance on a summer episode?

  4. Lee

Aaron, I’m getting to work on thinking about starting soon! I’m bumping up last year’s Summer Music Explosion so new folks looking for summertime Christmas fun will find it, and I’m on the lookout for some “summery” sounding Christmas music to go with the stuff to cool us off. I found such good stuff last year, it’s a high bar, but I’m gonna try!

    Thanks for sticking with me.

    Lee,

Is there a way I can get your permission to put these files on disk for our social studies teachers? Our filtering software wreaks havoc with downloads and iTunes on the PC’s Can We link directly to your files so they can listen to them live?

Merry Christmas I too am a chrismaholoic, born in Chicago, living in the south. SNOW baby SNOW!

  6. Lee

Gordon, thanks for listening. You certainly have my permission to use these in school–let me know what the teachers think. You may put them on disk. As for streaming the episodes, you may do one of two things: Click the first link in the post you’re interested in and use a player on your machine, or go to MyChristmasStocking.net and use the player on the left. I tried it tonight and it took a long time to load up, but it seemed to work. If neither of these works for you, let me know and I’ll see if I can figure something else out.

As long as you’re not selling the episodes, feel free to spread the cheer!

    Snow. I hear ya.

    Hello Lee,
Thank you so much for the summer edition, it was like a breath of cool air during the hot summer dog days. I am an American contractor who works in Heidelberg Germany, like you my favorite time of year is Christmas. Keep up the great work, I look forward to hearing your podcast again this December, it’s like a visit from a good friend.

    Merry Christmas

    Hi, Werner.

Thanks for your kind words. My wife and I were going to try to go to Europe for the Kristkindelmarkts last year, but we couldn’t swing it. Maybe someday!

Enjoy your fall and Fröhliche Weihnachten!

It must be the snow that is in the air here. And the decorations that are already in the stores. I will just sit back and wait now.

  14. Lee

Funny–you get to sit back and wait, I have to get up and go!

    Hello
I just discovered this site a few days ago. Since then I have been listening to the podcasts and catching up. I wanted to let you know that I have enjoyed them very much. The one I enjoyed the most was the one on Dickens, but that is because ‘A Christmas Carol’ is my ultimate favourite Christmas story.

    • Lee

      Hi, Joyce,

I’m glad you found us. I’m with you. “A Christmas Carol” is my favorite, too!

I listen to your podcast while working. . .Podcasts are much better than commercial radio. And yours is very refreshing. I’ll leave my other comments on your voicemail.
    Thank you for your efforts.

    • Lee Cameron

      Hi, Mary.

Thank you for listening. I’m glad you enjoy it.

I actually come from commercial radio and miss doing it, but podcasts do have a couple of advantages: They can cover subjects that won’t be covered on commercial radio in the same depth, using programming structure that can be vastly different. I couldn’t do the Christmas Stocking as it’s structured now on radio, although I am open to re-purposing the content, radio executives! Hint, hint.

I’m looking forward to receiving your voicemail. Merry Christmas!

    Lee:
I discovered your wonderful podcast only recently and really am enjoying being exposed to different music and information. I can never get enough of Christmas! BTW, did you ever hear of a song called the Zither Carol? James Galway has a great version. I love rare carols and hymns. Oh, and I am a big fan of Ace Collins’ books about Stories Behind The Carols of Christmas and the like. I particularly enjoyed the stories behind the original Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer book and then the song. Both are very inspiring.
Thanks again for adding to my holiday season, and all the best for your voiceover career.

    • Lee Cameron

      Hi, Wayne!

Thanks for the nice words! I vaguely recall I might have heard of the Zither Carol way back in elementary school. I’ll check it out. I’ll have to check out Ace Collins, too, haven’t heard of him.

I plan to do an episode on Rudolph. Maybe next year.

      Thanks again, Wayne.

      –Lee

      • Wayne

Thanks, Lee. The exact title of two of Ace Collins’ books are: Stories Behind the Best Loved Songs of Christmas, and More Stories Behind the Best Loved Songs of Christmas (oddly enough). I particularly enjoyed the Rudolph stories because the original poem was the response of a father to the loss of his wife and an attempt to comfort his daughter. After that, music was put to the poem, and Gene Autry didn’t want to sing “that silly song” until he played it for his wife, and she insisted he MUST record it. In both cases, it became an amazing hit as a complete surprise. I always enjoy it when that happens. Anyway, you make a great podcast. Thanks for listening.

Hope you have a wonderful day and Merry Christmas! 😀

    • Lee Cameron

      Hi, Robyn!

Thanks for your kind words; I’m glad you enjoy the show. I’m working on this year’s Summer Music Spectacular even as we speak. Actually, I’m working on getting the promo on the web. I have a bunch of new tools and I don’t know how to use them yet.

Have a great summer and a Merry Christmas!

  21. Wendy

Hi Lee! A while ago I posted here how my family has a ‘Christmas in July’ turkey dinner with all the fixings and set up outside next to our pool. We’re having our celebration in two days and it’s extra special this year because some family from far away are visiting us.

I mentioned your podcast to them and said how you would be doing your summer music spectacular soon and there it was in my podcast feed today. Nice! Merry Christmas y’all and I’ll be sending in a picture from our summer celebration.

    • Lee Cameron

Hi, Wendy! I thought I’d replied to this but I don’t see one, so I’ll try again, much later. Your Christmas in July sounds like a great idea. I just need to get a pool to make it perfect!

I hope you enjoyed the Summer Music Spectacular. Still waiting for the picture!

New episodes are coming soon! Thanks for listening, and for writing.

Hey Lee… It’s been a long time from my last post… Long story .. any way… Duluth, MN over the past 2 years has grown into Christmas city… we now have a new light display in town called Bentleyville. This year it is claiming to have the largest Christmas tree in the USA. Check it out… http://www.bentleyvilleusa.org/ Plus Duluth has it’s annual Christmas city of the north parade… http://www.visitduluth.com/featured/xmas-city.php
    Happy Holidays ..

Once again we’re only nearing Labor Day and I find myself heading over to my favorite podcast. I listen every year and appreciate the hard work and effort you put in. I appreciate the podcast being available but miss the older ones on itunes 😦
I appreciate them being on the website. I like to start with the 1st episode and listen till im current which gives me almost a new one per day till Christmas!

    Thanks again,
Jeremy – Big fan in Chicago

    • Lee Cameron

      Hi, Jeremy!

Thank you for your kind words. I really appreciate them.

I wish I could keep all of the older episodes on iTunes, but the feed provider I use (it gets the episodes on iTunes and the other podcast apps) only has room for so much information. I have extensive show notes that I want to keep in the feed, so only around 40-45 episodes can be on the feed. Someday I may change the feed provider (I may have to if they stop the service), and I’ll be able to have all the episodes on, depending on who I go with. But there are downsides to that, too, so I’m sticking with what I have for now.

      Enjoy your fall!

      –Lee
